The Anchor Bar, known locally as ‘PJ’s, is Carlingfords’ best known and most popular bar.  Located in the village centre our traditional bar is extremely popular with both locals and visitors alike.

In recent years, PJ’s has become particularly well known for its quality bar food, having recently won “Best Gastro Pub In Louth” at the Irish Restaurant Awards. This award gives fantastic recognition to the excellent quality and value that our Bar Snack Menu represents.

The Original Bar and part of the grocery store remains untouched over the years, complete with the framed Leprechaun bones & costume of Sean Òg, found by the late PJ O Hare. The blazing open fire welcomes customers in Winter months, providing the perfect atmosphere to relax and enjoy fine food or drinks.

The Lounge Bar, open at weekends is a tasteful extension by the current owners, Michael and Bernadette Heaney, who are celebrating ten years in business this year. Fully air conditioned and spacious, the Lounge Bar boasts 3 Big Screen televisions and two brand new state of the art “Pour Your Own Pint Tables” making it the ideal place to watch all live sporting events. The Lounge Bar is also Carlingfords’ main venue every Friday & Saturday night, attracting visitors from far and wide and providing the perfect party atmosphere for young and old alike with a range of live entertainment to suit all tastes.

The large Beergarden to the rear of the property provides the perfect suntrap in Summer months to eat and drink with friends and catch the rays amongst the beautiful Summer blossoms.

The Oyster Suite, located upstairs in the property is the newest addition to The Anchor Bar. Here we can cater for all types of private parties or gatherings. We will tailor menus to suit your needs and provide live entertainment if requested to make your night complete.
